A total of 212 sites across SIP are providing child care services since early this month, benefiting more than 1,200 families who need a helping hand in taking care of their children during the holiday.
The Unimicron Staff’s Home in Xiluoxiang Community in Shengpu Sub-district offered services to about 20 children whose parents work in Unimicron, a tech company in the sub-district. About 80% of these children live apart from their parents who migrate to work in the company.
During two weeks from July 7, diverse lessons such as those on handicrafts, martial art and films were offered to these children. The company provided free accommodation to the children, and the sub-district office provided pick-up service for those from outside SIP.
At the New Era Civilization Practice Center at SIP Northern Citizen Center, Weiting Sub-district is offering a series of lessons to 21 second to sixth graders on weekdays. The service, scheduled from July 7 to Aug 1, is open to pupils living in the surrounding communities and those whose parents are engaged in new forms of employment such as delivery workers and drivers who are paid for their services through online supply-demand matching platforms.
